Enabling that option makes you vulnerable to harmful files so install at your own risk!

Go to Menu -> Settings - then Applications
Then you should see the option Unknown sources:
By default it would be unchecked, tick the checkbox and you will get a warning screen. If you are willing to take the risk then go on and check it.
Now you can install applications that are not from the Android Market.
