To remember:
- Your phone SHOULD be rooted.
- This tutorial will wipe out all your data. Proceed at your own risk.
- Samsung KIES will NOT detect your phone after installing Jelly Blast ROM because it is a custom ROM.
- ClockworkMod recovery should be installed from before.
- Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding.

Installation guide (Updated):
Step 1 - Download Jelly Blast ROM for Galaxy Y to your phone.
Step 2 - Place the rom zip file in your sd card. Do not place it in any folders!
Step 3 - Then, turn off your phone.
Step 4 - After your phone is switched off, hold the Volume Up, Home and Power button altogether .
Step 5 - Use the volume keys to move up and down.
Step 6 - Select apply update from sd card, then press CWM.zip - Click here to download CWM.zip
Step 7 - In CWM recovery, wipe data and cache.
Step 8 - Select install zip from sd card
Step 9 - Choose JellyBlastGenED.signed.zip
Step 10 - Choose "Yes" (It will be installed)
Step 11- After the rom has been installed, reboot your phone!
Step 12- After your phone has rebooted, you have sucessfully updated your galaxy y to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

That’s it! Your Galaxy Y should now have Jelly Bean Blast Android 4.1 ROM installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.

Try to wait a little longer and see if anything will come up.
If that doesn't work, then take off the battery, boot again to Recovery and do a data wipe, then reboot and wait again and see if it will get past the black screen.
If that doesn't work too, then flash a stock ROM using Odin then try doing the flashing instructions for this ROM again for succesfull flash.

ReplyDeleteFake, this is a heavily tweaked version of the stock Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware with some mods here and there. The Galaxy Y along with all device using this Broadcom chipset will NEVER have any proper Jelly Bean ROM since there isn't simply any available drivers for hwcomposer, hard acceleration and any GPU related rendering tasks for the dated VideoCore IV (The GPU)

ReplyDelete@ Shubham Jain - Try to go into recovery mode again but first take off battery ofcourse and put it back in, then try to hold the 3 button combination to get into recovery mode and do a data/cache wipe, then reboot. See if it will continue and incase it doesn't then just flash stock rom using Odin.

@ manman123 - If you got a bootloop after the update, try to do a data/cache wipe again. If it still doesn't boot up fully then you'll have to flash stock rom using Odin.

Take off battery, put it back.
DeleteBoot into recovery mode again and do a data/cache wipe then choose Reboot. See if it will start up normally.

ReplyDelete@ Anonymous - Well try to get into recovery mode again after taking off the battery, then placing it back in.
DeleteDo a cache/data wipe (sometimes it helps get past the bootloop).
If the above doesn't work then you have no choice but to flash to a stock rom to be completely clean and then try again to flash this rom.

ReplyDeleteI install without any problem.....
Make sure you have Titanium Backup. Install it and backup all your stuff in the phone.
In case if you have link2SD or App2SD and created and partition.. UnInstall it. Delete partition too.. When all is done.
Copy back CWM and the jelly bean files in the SD card.
Boot at CWM. Clear data and cache. Don't clear Davik...
After all this, install the jellybean and update the necessaries...
Let phone start and you will get some errors on applications. No worries.. it will eventually go off in 1 - 2 days. Remember update the latest update 4.
No problem with SMS, Clock... etc..
