When I first got this phone, I was wondering how I could connect the phone without having to start Kies all the time and I'm pretty sure a lot of other Android beginners have been wondering the same. It's pretty simple.
First of all, you will need Kies installed, because it will also install USB Drivers for you.
Now connect the phone through your USB cable and wait a few seconds for stuff to display and the sound to play meaning you have it connected.
Drag the status bar down to go to the notification screen and tap on "Select to copy files to/from your computer."
It will take you to this screen:
Tap on "Connect USB storage", wait a few seconds and your computer will recognize your drive:
That is all. You no longer need to run Kies in order to transfer data now that you know this.
Thanks!!

I followed the instructions, up to the part where you Tap on "Connect USB Storage". But still, my device does not appear in the My Computer window and no dialogue box appears.
ReplyDeleteWhat OS are you running? Windows? Linux? Also be sure to have Samsung Kies installed before doing this because you need a few Samsung USB drivers in order to establish a connection.
