Hey guys! Presenting the best rom for galaxy y. It is called Cyanmobile Experience which installs original android 2.3.8 on your device. The rom does have any bugs (except usb tethering and fm radio) which mean it is stable. For all those who are not familiar with cyanmobile roms – It is an aftermarket rom like CyanogenMod, MIUI, JoyOS, LewaOS and many others.

Requirements:

  1. A rooted Galaxy Y with stock rom
  2. CWM Recovery from here
  3. Cyanmobile Experience 2.3.8 from here
  4. Percy cm#2 kernel from here
  5. Bieltv3’s v4 kernel from here
  6. Google Apps from here

Installation Instructions:

  1. Turn off your device
  2. Wait till it vibrates and then boot in the recovery mode by pressing the three button combination (Volume up + home + power button)
  3. Now using the volume up/down select apply update from sd card
  4. Select CWM Recovery.zip
  5. Your device will boot in ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.28
  6. Now go to mounts and storage and mount all partitions
  7. After mounting all partitions go to install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card>Percy cm#2.zip
  8. Wait till the installation completes
  9. Now go advanced and then select reboot recovery
  10. Your device will reboot in ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.26
  11. The recovery mode will most probably show a number of errors. Go to mounts and storage and format all partitions except sd card and then mount all of them
  12. Again select install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card>Cyanmobile Experience 2.3.8
  13. Wait till the installation completes
  14. Now again go to advanced and select reboot recovery
  15. Your device will reboot in ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.26
  16. Now go to mounts and storage again and mount all partitions
  17. After this go to install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card>kernel_CM7_v4.0_totoro.zip
  18. Wait for the installation to complete and then select reboot system now
  19. The first boot will take time (approximately 4 minutes ) so please be patient
  20. You finally have Cyanmobile Experience Android 2.3.8 on your Galaxy Y

  22.      Go to mounts and storage and mount all partitions

  3. I followed the instructions precisely. I suppose that boot partition was fucked up during the process. Probably I don't know some nuances. After rebooting my phone was stuck at the first screen. And I was unable to restore my backup in CWM. It reported errors about the boot and system partitions. This way I was forced to flash one of the official roms using odin in order to restore the backup in CWM.

  4. I am also facing the same problem. After rebooting the phone following the step no. 19, I am just stuck with first screen. Can you please tell me how did you fix this problem?

  6. I've picked the European stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568853 and flashed it using Odin v1.85 running on a Windows XP machine. After that I was able to restore my backup using CWM - and breathe out.
